Education Offerings

Borland's Education Offerings span the entire lifecycle of software development, addressing both process and technology issues in an integrated manner.

Borland's Education Offerings span the entire lifecycle of software development, helping people learn both the processes and the technology they need to be successful. Borland’s approach to full software lifecycle development is echoed in our Education Offerings – emphasizing lifecycle learning for an organization and an individual. In both cases, expertise in one area is complemented by concepts and skills in adjacent areas, enabling people to achieve peak performance in their software development projects.

Role-focused Learning

The offerings have been organized into role-based curriculum, with the objective of helping every role in the lifecycle succeed as part of the larger development team. The curriculum provides in-depth coverage of the core functional concepts and the tool-related skills that each role needs to excel. In addition, the curriculum provides an overview of adjacent roles and related technologies to help participants collaborate within the team. Courses use delivery modes that are most appropriate, effective, and convenient to achieve the desired outcome. Many core courses are offered in several formats that accommodate and take advantage of an individual’s experience level with related technologies.

The principle roles addressed by these tracks:

Capability-focused Learning

The offerings have also been organized into capability-focused tracks for enterprises concentrating on the rollout of specific Borland products. These tracks focus on the learning required for each role around a specific capability and product. For example, the Define Requirements track not only ensures that business analysts have the expertise to define requirements using CaliberRM,™ but also provides convenient learning options that ensure that project managers, architects, developers, and testers have the understanding of how they affect and interact with requirements management.

Process Improvement-focused Learning

Most enterprises find it challenging to successfully drive software performance improvement initiatives and deliver demonstrable results. The proliferation of frameworks and maturity models that are constantly changing only makes this challenge harder. Borland offers targeted education tracks for process leadership teams to help them build the necessary skills to structure and manage their improvement initiatives.
