Critical Mass Standardizes on Borland® Application Lifecycle Management Solutions
Leading Interactive Services Firm Selects Borland Software to Improve Efficiency and Accuracy in Application Development and Project Management
SCOTTS VALLEY, Calif. - Jun 01, 2004 : Borland Software Corporation (Nasdaq NM: BORL) today announced that Critical Mass, a world-class interactive firm and a leader in customer experience management, has standardized on Borland® Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions. Critical Mass will deploy Borland software to accelerate its application development cycle and alleviate the business pains associated with software projects – including time, asset and cost management.
Critical Mass is focused on designing and constructing commercial Web sites and electronic relationship management campaigns for blue-chip clients including, Mercedes-Benz, Dell, Procter & Gamble, Hyatt Hotels and Nike. In order to meet client demands, Critical Mass is faced with the continuous challenge of customizing the online functionality of its clients’ Web sites, often within a very short timeframe.
Critical Mass is often tasked with helping clients capitalize on immediate market opportunities with their respective industries. This requires a development environment that facilitates collaboration across distributed account and project teams while dramatically reducing development time, through automating tasks.
"A constantly evolving and increasingly competitive marketing and advertising industry has made improving the speed and accuracy of software application development processes a priority for Critical Mass," said Jerry Johnston, CEO, Critical Mass. "The Borland ALM solution is a comprehensive approach that allows us to quickly deliver electronic marketing campaigns, which in turn creates brand loyalty through deeper customer relationships for our clients."
Prior to standardizing on Borland, Critical Mass employed several disparate development tools and technologies, with no company-wide process for managing project requirements, documentation and artifacts.
The Borland ALM solution, comprised of Borland® JBuilder,® CaliberRM,™ StarTeam® and Together® will assist Critical Mass in integrating the definition, design, development, testing, deployment and management stages of the software application lifecycle, is designed to increase development efficiency and accuracy in project management.
"Borland understands that delivering successful applications that meet Critical Mass' clients' expectations depends on properly managing the development project lifecycle and prioritizing the continuous workflow among distributed development teams," said Christopher Corey, vice president and general manager, Borland Canada. "The Borland ALM solution should help Critical Mass to focus on its core competencies and worry less about the cost overruns, missed deadlines and inefficiencies that can be associated with software projects."
