Dale L. Fuller, President & Chief Executive Officer
Dale Fuller is president and chief executive officer of Borland Software Corporation, a leading provider of technology used to develop, deploy, and integrate software applications. As president and chief executive officer, Fuller has complete management responsibility for the company, delivering on the company's vision of enabling a new digital world where customers have the freedom to develop applications, deploy them anywhere, and integrate and manage them across the enterprise.
Fuller joined Borland in April 1999 with more than 20 years of experience in general management, marketing, and business development in the technology industry. Presently, Fuller is focused on extending the company's leadership in both the development marketplace and enterprise deployment. Committed to open standards and platform independence, Borland is one of the few companies bridging the competing technologies of disparate architectures – including Solaris, IBM, Java, Linux, Mac, Palm and Windows – including .NET. Borland’s mission is to help its customers move into the future without abandoning their past. Before being named president and chief executive officer, Fuller was president and chief executive officer of WhoWhere? Inc., one of the leading community sites on the Internet, which was acquired by Lycos. At WhoWhere?, Fuller led the expansion of numerous domain sites, including Angelfire.com, the fastest growing Internet site of 1998, and MailCity.com, a free email site, and increased the company's consumer reach to become a leading online guide of people and business information around the world.
Before WhoWhere?, Fuller was a vice president and general manager at Apple Computer. From 1994 to 1996, he was with NEC Technologies, Inc. as vice president and general manager, Portable Computer Systems, and was responsible for moving NEC's notebook computers into the top tier of portable systems and manufacturers.
Scott Arnold, Executive Vice President & Chief Operating Officer
Scott Arnold joined Borland Software Corporation in November 2003 with more than 15 years of experience in corporate strategy and management. As executive vice president and chief operating officer, Arnold is responsible for shaping the company’s business strategy, directing worldwide business operations and product development, and managing sales and marketing activities.
Arnold joined Borland from McKinsey & Company, where he helped to found and grow the organization's Silicon Valley office and Global High Tech and Telecom practices. He most recently led the firm's West Coast Technology Sector.
Chris Barbin, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Services
Chris Barbin is the senior vice president of worldwide services for Borland Software Corporation. In this role, Barbin is responsible for providing Borland's customers integrated service solutions across worldwide Technical Support, Consulting, and Education Services. Barbin is also responsible for all certification programs and mid-tier system integrator delivery partnerships.
Barbin brings more than 10 years of enterprise software and consulting expertise to Borland. Barbin joined the Borland team in April 2004 from webMethods, a leading Enterprise Application Integration (EAI) and Web Services infrastructure company, where he was SVP of Global Customer Services. At webMethods, Barbin helped to grow the services team from a pre-IPO size of fewer than 20 people to an integrated worldwide services team supporting more than 1,000 enterprise-class customers. Before webMethods, Barbin was Director of eCommerce for Grainger Consulting Services, a division of W.W. Grainger, Inc., a $4B distributor of industrial supplies. In his role at W.W. Grainger, Barbin consulted to Fortune 500 companies regarding indirect materials business process re-engineering, inventory and supplier management, and electronic commerce.
Barbin has a Bachelor of Arts from Bates College in Lewiston, Maine.
Bill Curtis, Chief Process Officer
Bill Curtis is the Chief Process Officer of Borland Software Corporation, a global leader in helping companies optimize their development and delivery of software applications. Until its acquisition by Borland in 2005, he was co-founder and chief scientist of TeraQuest in Austin, Texas. He is a former Director of the Software Process Program in the Software Engineering Institute at Carnegie Mellon University. He is a co-author of the Capability Maturity Model for Software and is the principal architect of the People CMM.
Before joining the SEI, Dr. Curtis directed research on advanced user interface technologies and the software design process at MCC, developed a global software productivity and quality measurement system at ITT’s Programming Technology Center, evaluated software development methods in GE Space Division, and taught statistics at the University of Washington. He ha co-authored four books, is on the editorial boards of several journals, and has published more than 150 papers on software development and management.
Brian "Boz" Elloy, Senior Vice President of Software Products
Boz Elloy is senior vice president of software products at Borland Software Corporation. In this role, Elloy is responsible for the management of the complete suite of Borland Application Lifecycle Management (ALM) solutions, overseeing business development as well as research and development across product lines.
Elloy has more than 15 years of experience in building and leading enterprise product development teams with a focus on ALM. He most recently served as vice president and general manager of enterprise solutions at Borland, responsible for the expansion and strategic direction of the Borland Enterprise Server and Borland Janeva™ product lines.
Before joining Borland, Elloy was senior vice president of product development at diCarta, Inc., where he established the company’s product plan, managing all product development activities, including the organization’s ASP hosting service. Before joining diCarta, Elloy was vice president of product development for the contracts suite of products at Oracle Corporation. He also served as Oracle’s vice president of product development for the media suite of products.
Elloy has also held consulting positions at companies including Telecom Australia (Telstra) and government agencies, where he was actively involved in enterprise-level design, development, deployment, and integration activities.
Kenneth R. Hahn, Senior Vice President & Chief Financial Officer
Ken Hahn is responsible for financial and administrative operations as well as investor relations activities at Borland Software Corporation.
Before joining Borland, Hahn was senior vice president, chief financial officer and secretary of Extensity, Inc. At Extensity, he built the company’s financial systems and control processes, leading the Extensity IPO in January 2000. Hahn also played a key role in the company's acquisition, culminating in the announcement of a definitive agreement to be purchased by Geac Computer Corporation at a substantial market premium. Before Extensity, Hahn was a strategy consultant with the Boston Consulting Group, providing advisory services to Fortune 500 and high tech companies. He began his career with PricewaterhouseCoopers, where he completed his five-year tenure in the position of audit manager.
Mr. Hahn holds an MBA from the Stanford Graduate School of Business, where he was named an Arjay Miller Scholar. He received a Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude in business administration from California State University, Fullerton and is a Certified Public Accountant and a Certified Management Accountant.
Rick Jackson, Senior Vice President & Chief Marketing Officer
Rick Jackson, senior vice president and chief marketing officer, is responsible for worldwide marketing activities at Borland. He brings more than 20 years of software industry experience to Borland, having held executive-level positions in marketing, sales, and business development. Mr. Jackson comes to Borland from BEA Systems, where he was senior vice president responsible for worldwide marketing.
Before joining BEA, Mr. Jackson worked with various venture capital firms in Silicon Valley as interim CEO and strategic adviser to their portfolio companies. He also served as President and CEO of Privada, a privacy services company for the financial services and health care industries. Previously, Mr. Jackson held executive marketing and business development roles with NetGravity – the pioneer in advertising and direct marketing management solutions for the Internet, and mFactory – a multimedia tools company. He has held sales and marketing positions at Taligent, NeXT Computer Inc., and HP, and engineering roles at CADAM Inc., a leading CAD/CAM provider.
Mr. Jackson holds a B.S. degree in computer science from California State University, Northridge.
Patrick Kerpan, Chief Technology Officer
Patrick Kerpan is the chief technology officer (CTO) for Borland Software Corporation. In this role, Kerpan is responsible for the company's technology strategy, overseeing the Borland team of chief scientists.
Kerpan brings more than 20 years of software development experience to the role of CTO and joined Borland in 2000 through the acquisition of Bedouin, Inc., a company he founded. Kerpan most recently served as the vice president and general manager of DSP solutions at Borland, where he was instrumental in leading the Borland acquisition of StarBase in 2003.
Before founding Bedouin, Inc., Kerpan was managing director of derivatives technology for Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce, responsible for derivatives technology worldwide. Before that, he served as executive director of financial engineering for Swiss Bank Corporation, where he was responsible for developing global portfolio management and risk analysis systems. Kerpan also served as lead developer for O'Connor and Associates artificial intelligence group.
Kerpan has been an invited speaker at industry gatherings such as Society for Information Management, Seybold's Distributed Computing Conferences, Comdex, International Association of Financial Engineers, and the Risk Magazine Annual Risk Congress.
Ron Sha, Chief Information Officer
Ron Sha is responsible for worldwide IT at Borland Software Corporation. Before joining Borland, Ron was senior vice president of internet operations at WebMD. While at WebMD, Ron established and implemented various processes related to system performance, reliability and capacity, change control, and product releases. He also redesigned and expanded the company-wide network and system infrastructure to a high-performance and scalable environment. Prior to WebMD, Mr. Sha held senior-level IT positions at Responsys.com, Visto Corporation, and Sun Microsystems.
Mr. Sha has broad experience in managing operations, information technology, and product development initiatives in high growth companies. Ron also holds multiple U.S. patents. Mr. Sha holds a Masters degree in Engineering Management from the University of Santa Clara, California, and a B.S. degree in Computer Science from San Jose State University, California.
Tim Stevens, Senior Vice President & Chief Legal Counsel
Tim Stevens is senior vice president and chief legal counsel for Borland Software Corporation, responsible for the direction and management of the Borland legal department and all legal matters affecting the company.
Stevens is a senior executive with substantial experience in building and guiding growth companies. From 1997 to 2003, he worked at Inktomi Corporation in a variety of legal and business roles, including general counsel, general manager, and senior vice president of Business Development. He joined Inktomi following six years at Wilson Sonsini Goodrich & Rosati, where he counseled dozens of public and private companies in all aspects of corporate governance and business operations, public and venture financings, mergers and acquisitions, and intellectual property.
Stevens is active in the legal community and serves as a member of the Board of Directors of Fios, Inc., a leading provider of electronic discovery and litigation readiness services. He has been a speaker at several legal seminars and law schools, and is currently authoring a book on managing complex litigation, entitled Litigation Readiness - Conquering the Inevitable.
Matthew Thompson, Senior Vice President of Worldwide Sales
As senior vice president of worldwide sales for Borland Software Corporation, Matthew Thompson is responsible for the overall direction of the company's sales efforts, as well as the integration and cross-training of the Borland sales organization in more than 23 countries worldwide.
Thompson brings more than 21 years of sales experience to Borland, and has spent a large part of his career in senior executive positions working for enterprise software organizations such as Cadence Design Systems and EDS. At Cadence, Thompson worked as senior vice president of worldwide sales and field operations, helping to grow the company's revenue from $300 million in 1994 to $1.3 billion in 2000. At EDS, he held a variety of sales management positions and was part of the team that helped to lead the company's transition to a multi-billion dollar organization.
Thompson most recently served as vice president of worldwide sales and field operations at Marimba, Inc., a software change management organization, where he was instrumental in establishing partnerships with ISVs, OEMs, and systems integrators to extend the reach of the company to both Fortune 2000 and smaller accounts. During his tenure, he was responsible for upgrading and improving the direct sales organization and rearchitecting the company's sales process to include solutions selling.
